The Kerala High Court has widened the scope of the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) inquiry into the alleged loss of gold from Sabarimala Temple. This development highlights a potential conspiracy involving officials from the Travancore Devaswom Board, following the SIT's initial report.
The court's decision came after serious irregularities were revealed in the handling of gold from the temple's dwarapalaka idols. Investigations have identified two cases of criminal breach of trust and forgery, allegedly orchestrated by Bengaluru-based Unnikrishnan Potty with Devaswom officials' collusion.
The court stressed its role in ensuring an impartial and effective investigation, maintaining public confidence. Proceedings will continue in camera, with the next hearing set for November 5. The probe aims to unravel a suspected cover-up of gold pilferage from as early as 2019.
