UK Joins International Efforts for Gaza Stabilisation

The UK has dispatched military planning officers to Israel to participate in a U.S.-led task force aimed at stabilising Gaza. This task force, the Civil-Military Coordination Centre, seeks to maintain the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Contributions from various countries are also being pursued.

The United Kingdom has deployed military planning officers to Israel to take part in a United States-led task force dedicated to stabilising the Gaza region, according to the UK defence ministry. The move forms part of broader efforts to uphold a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Known as the Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC), the force is designed to provide security in Gaza, despite certain details regarding its composition and legal status still awaiting agreement. While the U.S. has agreed to pledge up to 200 troops, these personnel will not operate directly within Gaza.

British defence officials asserted their involvement will ensure the UK retains integration within U.S.-led planning. Defence Minister John Healey highlighted Britain's specialist expertise as a valuable contribution, though he stressed the UK intends to support, not lead, the initiative.
