A Belgian court has ruled there is no risk of Mehul Choksi facing unfair treatment if extradited to India. This landmark decision strengthens India's efforts to bring the fugitive businessman to justice.
The Court of Appeals in Antwerp found no evidence supporting Choksi's claims of a political trial. It dismissed concerns of potential torture or judicial unfairness upon extradition.
Choksi, wanted in connection with the Rs 13,000 crore Punjab National Bank fraud, remains a flight risk, officials state. India has assured his safety, while his extradition process gains momentum.
