The Blind Persons Association of Himachal Pradesh took to the streets outside the Secretariat on Monday, urging the state government to address the growing recruitment backlog affecting visually-impaired individuals. According to association officials, hundreds of demonstrators gathered to voice their concerns over unfilled positions in government departments.

The protesters were resolute, warning that they might escalate their demonstrations, including the possibility of a 'naked protest', should their demands continue to be ignored. Association Secretary Rajesh Thakur criticized the government's prolonged inaction, noting that their protest near Shimla's Kalibari has now crossed 700 days without effective resolution.

Thakur expressed frustration over the cycle of empty government promises and the persistent lack of progress in filling roles earmarked for the visually impaired. Despite repeated negotiations and reassurances, vacancies remain unaddressed, prompting calls for immediate and substantive government intervention.
