In a bid to ease tensions within the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met with CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam on Monday. This meeting was specifically aimed at addressing discontent voiced by the CPI concerning the state government's decision to sign the MoU for the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India scheme.
Vijayan had just returned from an official visit to Oman and wasted no time in confronting the issue head-on. Earlier in the day, he engaged in routine party activities before traveling to Alappuzha for the Punnapra-Vayalar uprising memorial events. This busy itinerary underscored the importance of the coalition's internal harmony, particularly ahead of the CPI's key party meeting.
The tête-à-tête between Vijayan and Viswam, where CPI ministers also joined later, lasted for more than an hour. The CM's swift engagement with party leaders points to a concerted effort to maintain coalition stability amid critical policy differences. As part of his itinerary, Vijayan also participated in public commemorations, highlighting the complex balancing act between governance, alliance politics, and historical recognition.
