Tragic Incident: Undertrial Prisoner Found Dead in Nashik Jail

An undertrial prisoner, Shivdas Bhalerao, was reportedly found hanging in Maharashtra's Nashik Road Central Jail on Sunday afternoon, according to an official.
Bhalerao, aged 58, was a resident of Sinnar taluka and had been in custody since June 2024 following his arrest in a rape case.
The prison authorities immediately transferred Bhalerao to the district hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. Investigators are yet to determine the motive behind this tragic incident, and a case of accidental death has been filed.
