The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haryana police is intensively investigating the death of Aqil Akhter, son of former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa. Police personnel who provided security to the family are among those questioned, as the SIT examines Akhter's mobile phone, diary, and laptop for vital clues.
Aqil Akhter was found dead at his Panchkula residence on October 16, leading to a case registered on October 20 under murder and criminal conspiracy sections. Allegations of foul play have been made by Shamshuddin from Malerkotla, bolstered by a video allegedly recorded by Akhter with accusations against his father and family.
The SIT, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Vikram Nehra, continues to probe, awaiting critical forensic reports to establish the cause of death. Amidst the investigation, Mustafa refutes claims against the family, attributing Akhter's issues to long-term mental health struggles and substance abuse.
