Larry Summers, the former Harvard University president and US treasury secretary, announced he is stepping back from public commitments after emails exposed a continued relationship with Jeffrey Epstein following Epstein's 2008 guilty plea for soliciting prostitution from an underage girl.
Summers, expressing remorse, stated a desire to "rebuild trust" with those closest to him. Although Summers did not specify the changes, the Centre for American Progress confirmed his fellowship conclusion, and he is no longer associated with Yale's Budget Lab.
Questions remain regarding Summers' position on OpenAI's board. His decision follows statements by President Donald Trump urging investigations into Summers' connections with Epstein, along with figures like Bill Clinton and Reid Hoffman. US Attorney General Pam Bondi has assigned a federal prosecutor to lead this investigation.
