China's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said it firmly opposed the UK spy agency "groundlessly hyping up" Chinese spies posing as headhunters, saying China was not interested in collected "so-called intelligence" from the British parliament.
"China never interferes in other countries' internal affairs and has no interest in collecting so-called intelligence from the UK Parliament," spokesperson Mao Ning told a regular press briefing.
Britain's MI5 security service issued a new warning to lawmakers on Tuesday about attempts by Chinese agents to collect information and influence activity, its latest accusation that Beijing is trying to spy on the nation's parliament.
