In a dire situation overseas, five migrant workers from Jharkhand, India, have alleged that they are trapped in Cameroon after being deprived of their wages for several months.

These workers, employed by a Mumbai-based multinational company to install power transmission lines, have made a public plea for their return due to hardships caused by non-payment. The issue came to light when a video appeal they shared with Sikander Ali, a social activist, was presented to the state government.

State officials, led by team leader Shikha Lakra of the State Migrant Control Room, are now collaborating with the Indian Embassy in Cameroon to ensure the safe return of these workers. This intervention is crucial, as the workers face challenges in securing food and accommodation.
