A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in the area has granted a compensation of over Rs 35 lakh to the family of a young man who tragically lost his life in a scooter crash. The 21-year-old, identified as Rahul, was riding pillion on a scooter that collided with a metro pillar.
Presiding Officer Gunjan Gupta presided over the case, which involved claims from Rahul's mother, minor brother, and unmarried sister, who were financially reliant on him. The incident occurred on June 15, 2022, on the main Rohtak road. The tribunal attributed the accident to rash and negligent driving.
Despite arguments from the insurer regarding the validity of the driver's license, the tribunal held the company responsible for the compensation. The tribunal noted the insurer's failure to prove their claims and confirmed the driver's valid license, ensuring the deceased's family would receive the compensation.
