The Election Commission of India (ECI) has invited all citizens to download the ECINet mobile application and submit their suggestions to improve its features and usability. Public feedback can be shared through the app’s “Submit a Suggestion” tab between 27 November 2025 and 27 December 2025. This marks one of the largest public participation efforts undertaken by the Commission to refine a nationwide electoral service platform before its full launch.

The ECINet App—currently in its trial phase—is expected to become India’s most comprehensive and user-centric election services application when it is officially launched in January 2026.

Trial Deployment in Bihar Elections Proved Transformational

The trial version of the ECINet App was first deployed during the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 and subsequently in several bye-elections. The platform significantly enhanced the election experience for both citizens and officials by:

  • Providing faster voter services

  • Offering near real-time polling percentage trends

  • Enabling publication of Index Cards within 72 hours of poll closure — an activity that earlier required weeks or even months

  • Helping field officials and observers coordinate more efficiently

  • Improving transparency and access to critical election-related information

Learnings and insights from Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Observers, and field teams have already been integrated into ongoing development.

Public Suggestions to Play a Key Role in Final App Design

ECI has appealed to voters, citizens, researchers, civil society, political workers, media personnel, and youth to actively engage in fine-tuning the ECINet App. Suggestions received during the one-month window will be systematically evaluated, and the most valuable enhancements will be incorporated before the platform’s national rollout.

The initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to inclusive, responsive, and user-driven digital governance, ensuring the app evolves as a dependable, intuitive, and powerful service for India’s 97+ crore voters.

A Visionary Initiative Led by the Election Commission Leadership

ECINet is one of the most ambitious digital transformation initiatives underway at the Election Commission under the leadership of:

  • Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar

  • Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu

  • Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi

The idea of ECINet was formally announced on 4 May 2025, and development work began immediately thereafter. The platform is central to the Commission’s broader effort to employ technology for strengthening transparency, efficiency, and citizen convenience in India's electoral ecosystem.

ECINet: A Unified App Replacing 40 Different Election Platforms

One of the app’s most notable features is its role as a single integrated platform that consolidates 40 earlier election-related applications and websites. These include:

  • Voter Helpline App (VHA)

  • cVIGIL

  • Saksham

  • Polling Trends / Voter Turnout App

  • Know Your Candidate (KYC)

  • And dozens of other voter-facing services

By merging various standalone platforms into one unified interface, the ECINet App aims to:

  • Reduce confusion and duplication

  • Improve accessibility for citizens

  • Simplify the voter experience

  • Deliver election services more efficiently

The app is available for download on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

A Milestone Toward Smarter, More Transparent Elections

The ECINet App represents a major leap in the Election Commission’s digital transformation journey. It seeks to:

  • Make information readily available to voters

  • Improve transparency and efficiency

  • Streamline public grievances

  • Strengthen monitoring through real-time tools

  • Modernise India’s electoral management systems

By inviting public participation in its final development phase, ECI is ensuring that the app launches as a robust, citizen-friendly platform aligned with voter needs and expectations.

With the official launch scheduled for January 2026, the next few weeks will be crucial in shaping the future of India’s first-ever unified, all-in-one election services application.
