Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the 128th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, praised the growing popularity of the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative—an event that is rapidly transforming into a national fitness movement driven by citizens across India.

The Prime Minister highlighted that cycling campaigns, marathons, and other fitness initiatives have ignited a renewed enthusiasm for adopting healthier lifestyles among the youth.

“Many people are coming together to participate in programs like Fit India Sundays on Cycle. These are important ways to promote fitness,” PM Modi said.

 51st Edition Successfully Held Today

Coinciding with his message, the 51st edition of the weekly cycling movement was conducted nationwide this Sunday. Olympian and Rajasthan’s Minister for Sports, Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, led the event from the Amar Jawan Jyoti in Jaipur, where nearly 1000 children joined the ride.

Col. Rathore expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s persistent efforts to enhance the nation's health consciousness:

“PM Modi ji always encourages us to reduce oil consumption, adopt millet-based diets, and fight obesity through cycling, yoga, running, and more.”

He also noted that cycles were made available at the venue, ensuring accessibility to all participants.

📰 Journalists Join from Across India

The November 30 edition witnessed strong participation from the journalism community, with reporters and media professionals across states joining cycling rallies to promote both fitness and awareness.

🎯 Fit India Zone at Khelo India University Games

Adding to the fitness movement, a special Fit India Zone has been created at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur, on the sidelines of the Khelo India University Games. The zone includes:

  • Fitness Challenge Arena – Zumba, rope skipping & prize activities

  • Dedicated Cycling Zone

  • Physical & Mental Fitness Assessments – supported by Abhinav Bindra Target Performance

This creates an immersive, action-packed fitness environment for students, athletes, and families.

🌱 Born Under Fit India, Now a People’s Movement

Launched in December 2024 under the guidance of Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the initiative reinforces PM Modi’s vision:

  • “Fitness Ka Dose, Adha Ghanta Roz”

  • “Fight Against Obesity”

Today, Sundays on Cycle has evolved into a nationwide community-driven fitness revolution, led by:

✔ Over 4000 NaMo Fit India Cycling Clubs ✔ Lakhs of citizens actively participating every week

These clubs independently organize weekly events that have democratized fitness—making it accessible, social, and enjoyable.

🌍 Ground-Level Reach via SAI and Khelo India Network

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) ensures widespread implementation across:

  • SAI Training Centres in Assam, Punjab, Manipur, Ladakh, etc.

  • Khelo India Centres in Odisha and multiple states

  • 23 National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs)

This strong institutional backing has helped the campaign penetrate metros as well as remote regions—uniting India with the spirit of health and well-being.

🇮🇳 Building a Fit, Energetic Bharat

The ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative is not merely an event—it is a public movement fueling:

  • Daily fitness habits

  • Community bonding
