In a significant breakthrough, Jharkhand police have broken up an inter-state syndicate involved in the distribution of counterfeit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). Four people were arrested in Jamtara district, and a substantial cache of spurious liquor valued at Rs 45 lakh was seized, officials disclosed on Monday.

Acting on intelligence input, law enforcement officers initiated vehicle inspections in the Narayanpur area, intercepting a truck concealing 225 crates of dubious IMFL amid potato chip packets, along with two cars on Sunday night. This operation marks the largest recovery of such illicit liquor in the state to date, according to Jamtara SP Rajkumar Mehta.

Investigations revealed that the fake liquor was produced near Asansol, West Bengal, and Baliapur, Dhanbad, with a distribution route passing through Jamtara to various locations in Bihar. The inquiry has led to the seizure of 5,400 bottles of counterfeit liquor and 3,120 litres of spirits, with further raids ongoing to apprehend additional suspects linked to the syndicate.
