Conversion Controversy: Arrests Made in Kannauj

In Kannauj, three men have been apprehended for allegedly trying to persuade villagers to switch their faith through inducements, officials reported on Tuesday.
According to Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar, a complaint was lodged by a Lohamad village resident in which Panna Lal, Vidhya Sagar, and Uma Shankar Dohre—residents of Karsaha village—were accused of attempting to lure others into changing their faith.
An FIR was registered at Thathiya police station under Sections 3 and 5(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, naming the three men. Police arrested all three and discovered religious materials at a site frequented by them. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
