American actor and playwright Jeremy O. Harris has been released from custody in Japan, following his arrest last month on drug smuggling suspicions, authorities confirmed on Monday.

Harris, known for his acclaimed works on stage, was detained on November 16 at Naha airport after a customs officer discovered 0.78 grams of MDMA in his baggage.

Japanese law, noted for its tough stance on drug-related offenses, poses severe penalties. However, local prosecutors have not disclosed if Harris will face official charges.
