In a dramatic turn of events, police in Gujarat's Rajkot district shot a man accused of rape in the leg. The incident occurred when the suspect allegedly tried to assault officers gathering evidence at the crime scene.
Identified as Ramsingh Dadvejar, the accused was charged with the horrific sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl near Kanpar village. The attack allegedly took place in a paddy field on December 4, where he dragged the child into nearby bushes and committed the crime.
During the evidence collection, the accused purportedly attacked a policeman with an iron rod. In defense, officers fired two shots, wounding him. Both the accused and a police officer, who sustained hand injuries, were treated at nearby hospitals.
