The prosecution in the 2017 sexual assault case of an actress in Kerala seeks life imprisonment for six individuals convicted. The court is set to decide on the sentence on Friday.
On December 8, Ernakulam Principal Sessions Judge Honey M Varghese declared Sunil alias Pulsar Suni, Martin Antony, Manikandan B, Vijesh V P, Salim H, and Pradeep guilty.
Actor Dileep and three others were acquitted. Special Public Prosecutor V Aja Kumar stated the prosecution is prepared to maximize the punishment, highlighting factors such as rape, conspiracy, and abetment.
Kumar expressed the urgency for a copy of the judgment to understand Dileep's acquittal and mentioned plans to challenge the acquittals in the Kerala High Court.
The case stems from a shocking incident where multiple assailants held the actress captive in her car, triggering public outrage.
