International human rights groups condemn the re-arrest of Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi in Iran. International human rights groups have strongly condemned the arrest of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi in Iran. The Nobel committee has urged Iranian authorities to immediately disclose her location, citing concerns for her safety. Mohammadi's French lawyer, Chirine Ardakani, disclosed her arrest after she criticized the mysterious death of human rights lawyer Khosrow Alikordi.
While Iranian officials have yet to confirm her detainment, Mashhad's city governor, Hasan Hosseini, stated that several participants at Alikordi's memorial were temporarily detained, though he did not mention Mohammadi by name. The Norwegian Nobel Committee demanded her immediate release, emphasizing her rights as a Nobel laureate.
Viral social media videos depict Mohammadi, 53, defiantly standing on a car without a mandatory veil, chanting slogans. Reports claim she was beaten before her arrest. Concerns heighten as her location remains undisclosed, with rights organizations worldwide calling for transparency and justice.
