Pakistani security forces killed 13 TTP terrorists in two separate operations in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military media wing said on Sunday.
The intelligence-based operations were conducted in the Mohmand and Bannu districts.
''On 12-13 December 2025, thirteen khwarij belonging to Fitna Al Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province,'' the statement said.
Fitna al Khawarij is a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In the Mohmand District operation, seven terrorists were killed by the security forces.
Six terrorists were killed in the operation in the Bannu district.
Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terror activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, after the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022, vowing to attack security forces, police, and law enforcement personnel.
Last month, security forces eliminated 22 terrorists during an operation in the Bannu district.
In a separate incident, a prominent tribal leader was shot dead by unknown assailants in the South Waziristan district of the province.
The victim belonged to the Suleman Khel tribe.
According to police sources, the incident took place in the Azam Warsak area of Barmal tehsil when the victim was travelling to his native town.
The assailants managed to flee the scene after the attack.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and collected evidence, while an investigation was launched to determine the motive behind the killing and to trace the suspects. Authorities said all possible angles, including targeted killing, are being examined.
Police sources added that incidents of terrorism and targeted killings have increased in Barmal tehsil over the past year, raising serious concerns among local residents, who have called for stricter security measures.
