In an unprecedented move, Rajasthan's election authorities have removed nearly 42 lakh voter names from the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan confirmed this sweeping action on Tuesday.
Integral to this clean-up were enumeration forms from 41.79 lakh of the 5.46 crore voters that remained uncollected. Among those deleted, 8.75 lakh were marked as deceased, 29.6 lakh had shifted or were absent, and 3.44 lakh were registered in multiple locations. Approximately 11 lakh voters will soon receive notices requesting their credentials.
The highest deletions emerged from Jaipur, with public notices slated for display at local administrative offices. From December 16, 2025, to January 15, 2026, individuals and parties can contest deletions or omissions. The endeavor, a collective effort of electoral officers and political agents, forms part of a broader drive to ensure electoral integrity across regions and territories.
