A chilling cyber fraud story emerged as a 57-year-old woman was duped out of more than Rs 2.05 crore by fraudsters masquerading as law enforcement officers. This so-called 'digital arrest' scam involved perpetrators exploiting technological mediums to manipulate and threaten the victim.

The fraudulent activities took place between June 19 and November 27, with the criminals initially contacting the woman through a call falsely claimed to be from a courier company, warning her of impending arrest over alleged drug findings linked to her Aadhaar card.

Under immense pressure to safeguard her family, the victim in fear sold properties and took loans. Following the discovery of the deceit when asked to procure a 'no-objection certificate,' police have registered a case and investigations are ongoing.
