Bribery Scandal: DIG Prisons Caught in Corruption Case

A high-ranking officer in the Prison Department is under scrutiny as the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) registers a case against him for alleged bribery.
M K Vinod Kumar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Prisons, is accused of accepting bribes from inmates and their relatives, sparking significant controversy. Under Sections 7A and 7B of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Kumar reportedly received bribes to facilitate paroles and provide additional facilities within the jail.
In a move emphasizing the gravity of the situation, the VACB has recommended his suspension to the state government, as his presence in office may threaten the investigation's efficacy. The probe, which includes collecting transaction details and bank statements, continues with potential future interrogations of Kumar.
