In a blistering critique, senior YSRCP leader and former TTD chairman B Karunakar Reddy has accused the NDA coalition government of orchestrating a conspiracy to transfer highly valuable TTD land to the luxury hotel group Oberoi, under the guise of tourism development.
Reddy claims that the exchange involves prime TTD land near Alipiri, currently valued at over Rs 3,000 crore in the open market, swapped for tourism department land worth approximately Rs 18 crore. According to him, this transaction represents a blatant act of 'looting' Lord Venkateswara's property and stands as the largest scam involving TTD.
The YSRCP leader alleges significant concessions were made, including waiver of substantial fees and a lack of transparency in registrations, casting doubt on the legality of the agreements signed. Reddy has publicly called on religious leaders to oppose what he terms a systemic undermining of sacred TTD properties, holding key political figures accountable for the controversial land transfer.
