In a significant decision, the Kerala High Court on Friday revoked a state government order that had permitted the setup of a liquor plant in Elappully village, Palakkad district.
The decision came after a bench comprising justices Sathish Ninan and P Krishna Kumar considered several petitions opposing the government's order. The reasoning behind the court's ruling will be detailed in an upcoming order.
Initially, the state cabinet had given the green light to Oasis Commercial Pvt Ltd's proposal in January. Nevertheless, resistance from the Elappully panchayat emerged, highlighting potential environmental and agricultural impacts on the village and its vicinity.
