The Privileges Committee of the Rajya Sabha is set to probe allegations against TMC's Mamata Thakur and ex-MP Mausam Noor over incidents that purportedly disrupted proceedings during the VB-G RAM Bill debate. The Rajya Sabha secretariat disclosed the examination of the complaint filed by BJP's Laxmikant Bajpai.
Accusations include making objectionable remarks, causing interruptions, and encroaching upon the Well, actions deemed to have hindered the legislative process on December 18 and 19. Consequently, the Hon'ble Chairman of the Rajya Sabha has directed a thorough inquiry into these claims under Rule 203.
Mausam Noor, who resigned from the Rajya Sabha on January 5 after switching from the Trinamool Congress to the Congress, had participated in the opposition's protest against the Bill, which ultimately passed amidst contentious debate.
