The Jharkhand High Court has voiced considerable concern over a recent police raid on the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office, describing it as apparently 'preplanned'. Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi, presiding over the writ petition submitted by the ED, mandated the inclusion of the Union home secretary as a participant in the ongoing case.
In response, the court has ordered that security be enhanced for the ED office and its personnel, instructing the Union home secretary to deploy personnel from CRPF, BSF, or any other paramilitary force. Ranchi's Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Ranjan, was specifically instructed to ensure the proper security arrangements are in place, with the court holding him personally responsible for any security lapses.
This high-profile case has heightened tensions between political entities, including strong words from opposition leader Babulal Marandi and rebuttals from the ruling JMM. Allegations of interference and tampering with evidence have further fueled the turmoil surrounding the actions taken against a former government employee linked to a significant alleged scam involving fraudulent land ownership changes.
