In a significant bust, local police have arrested two men and detained two others for allegedly engaging in coercive tactics aimed at women frequenting city gyms. The men reportedly formed friendships before trying to persuade the women to convert their religion, alongside subjecting them to harassment.
The police action followed complaints from two women, prompting the registration of an FIR and the formation of four investigative teams. The accused, identified as Mohammad Sheikh Ali Alam and Faizal Khan, were detained on Tuesday based on gathered digital evidence and phone records.
Further investigations unveiled the involvement of Zaheer, a gym owner, and Sadab, leading to their detention. Authorities have subsequently sealed all gyms run by Zaheer, with cases registered under multiple legal sections including the IT Act and the state's Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act.
