Notorious Criminal Shot Dead in Police Encounter After Escape Attempt

In a dramatic turn of events, Kottu Raja alias Azhaguraja, a known criminal, was shot dead by police in a confrontation near Thirumanthurai, Perambalur district, on Tuesday morning. The suspect, involved in a high-profile criminal case, allegedly attacked a sub-inspector during an attempted escape from custody.

Azhaguraja, identified as a key suspect in the attack on another notorious figure, Vellai Kali, was apprehended on Monday. He had confessed to hiding explosives used in the attack and was taken to the location to recover them. During the retrieval operation, he reportedly attacked the police, prompting an officer to fire in self-defense.

The accused succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the injured sub-inspector was rushed to Perambalur Government General Hospital. Police officials are closely investigating the incident to uncover more details about the criminal network involved.
