Tragedy Strikes: Transgender Person Found Dead on Odisha Highway

A tragic incident unfolded along the highway connecting Bhubaneswar and Puri in Odisha as a transgender individual was found deceased, lying in a pool of blood near Uttara Chowk, police reported on Monday.
Authorities were alerted to the scene around 8.30 pm Sunday, rushing the victim to Capital Hospital where they were subsequently declared dead. Soumyendu Sekhar Tripathy, Inspector-in-Charge of Pipili Police Station, confirmed that a murder case has been registered as investigations continue, with the body now undergoing a postmortem examination.
The discovery has prompted a serious response from the local transgender community, who staged a protest outside Capital Hospital. The protesters are demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the crime and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victim's family.
