The Allahabad High Court has postponed the hearing of a petition by Anuj Chaudhary, a former circle officer from Sambhal, contesting an order that mandates the filing of an FIR against several police officers, including himself. This development is linked to the Sambhal violence case of 2024.
During Tuesday's proceedings, Additional Advocate General of Uttar Pradesh Manish Goel informed the court about the state's own petition against the aforementioned order. Justice Samit Gopal chose to adjourn the case, scheduling the next hearing for February 9, with instructions to consolidate both petitions for joint consideration.
This case stems from accusations made by Yameen, who claims his son was shot by police on November 24, 2024. Chief Judicial Magistrate Vibhanshu Sudhir had earlier instructed the registration of an FIR following Yameen's plea, raising concerns about police conduct during the incident.
