The US and Russia have agreed to reestablish high-level military-to-military dialogue, as announced by the United States European Command. The decision follows a series of discussions between senior Russian and American military officials in Abu Dhabi.
This renewed communication channel is intended to ensure continuous military contact as the involved parties strive for lasting peace. Such communications were suspended in 2021, preceding Russia's extensive invasion of Ukraine.
Simultaneously, the dialogue occurs as Russia intensifies assaults on Ukraine's infrastructure, specifically targeting power grids. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy emphasizes the need for security assurances from Western allies to prevent future Russian aggression, amid continued casualties and conflict.
