A violent confrontation erupted during an anti-hawker drive in Mumbai's Kandivli area, leading to the arrest of five individuals on Saturday. The clash unfolded as Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials attempted to evict illegal street vendors on Friday night, with a video of the incident quickly going viral.

The altercation intensified when individuals allegedly chased and assaulted the officials. The chaos also extended to the driver of an earthmover machine deployed to facilitate the anti-encroachment drive, who was similarly targeted by the mob.

The Samta Nagar police have subsequently registered a case under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), resulting in the arrest of Kuldeep Singh, Mahendra Singh Chudavat, Shaurya Shailesh Charla, Jas Hitesh Charla, and Aslam Imtiaz Shaikh for their alleged involvement in the incident.
