The Maharashtra legislative council's privileges committee has proposed 30 days of civil imprisonment for NCP (SP) worker Suryakant More. He allegedly used foul language against Chairman Ram Shinde, prompting the committee to view it as a significant breach of privilege and an insult to the council's dignity.

Upon presenting the committee report, BJP MLC Prasad Lad emphasized the severity of the incident. The committee suggests that the punishment becomes void once the legislative session adjourns, but it will resume in the subsequent session.

Lad insisted that stringent action is essential to discourage such behavior towards constitutional authorities. More's actions were not only offensive to Shinde but also to all past members of the council, highlighting the necessity for this disciplinary measure.
