In a significant legal ruling, a Moscow court has convicted 19 people for their roles in the devastating March 2024 attack on a concert hall, which resulted in 149 deaths and over 600 injuries. The attack was claimed by a faction of the Islamic State group.
The defendants received stern sentences, with 15 of them handed life imprisonment. The convictions come despite President Vladimir Putin's unproven allegations of Ukraine's involvement, which Kyiv has vehemently denied.
This trial was conducted behind closed doors due to security concerns, and the proceedings have drawn attention for both their severity and the underlying geopolitical tensions.
