Civil courts in the Dhanbad and Latehar districts of Jharkhand were thrown into chaos after receiving bomb threat emails on Thursday. The threat prompted police and security agencies to conduct exhaustive searches with bomb disposal and canine units, though no explosives were detected.
In Dhanbad, the threatening email alleged that 'cyanide bombs' had been planted on court premises. Dhanbad City SP Ritvik Shrivastav confirmed a thorough two-hour search yielded no explosive materials, but security measures have been escalated in response. The Dhanbad Civil Court had faced a similar threat earlier this year in February.
Meanwhile, the Latehar Civil Court's official email ID received a bomb threat around 10 a.m., sparking another intensive search operation by police. DSP Sanjeev Mishra reported no suspicious items were found, and investigative efforts are focused on unveiling the email's origins. Security protocols have been intensified to safeguard the court facilities.
