Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to facilitate the release of Rs 3,112 crore in pending dues essential for the completion of the state's Jal Jeevan Mission initiatives.

In a letter addressed to PM Modi, Stalin highlighted that the Ministry of Jal Shakti recently indicated a withdrawal of central assistance for the Hogenekkal Phase-III Combined Water Supply Scheme, despite its approval in June 2023.

The project, sanctioned by the State Level Scheme Sanctioning Committee, was set at a budget of Rs 8,428 crore, including the central government's Jal Jeevan Mission contribution of Rs 2,283 crore.
