Delhi High Court Orders Swift Removal of Defamatory Content Linking Minister's Daughter to Epstein

The Delhi High Court has instructed social media platforms to remove content linking Himayani Puri, daughter of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, to Jeffrey Epstein. This decision follows a lawsuit filed by Himayani, alleging the spread of false and malicious information damaging her reputation as a finance professional.

The Delhi High Court has mandated the removal of social media content that falsely connects Himayani Puri, daughter of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Justice Mini Pushkarna gave the order, insisting that the content be withdrawn within 24 hours.

During the proceedings, the court restricted users and platforms from posting or circulating such information, acknowledging that Puri has established a prima facie case in her favor. The lawsuit, supported by Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, cited irreparable reputational damage to Puri, a finance professional.

The court also restricted the initial content removal order to within India, addressing jurisdictional challenges involving global platforms. The case continues with further hearings scheduled, as Puri seeks damages and a global retraction of the defamatory content.
