Trump Criticizes NATO Allies for Non-participation in Iranian Conflict
President Trump criticized NATO allies for refusing to participate in the U.S.-Israeli military operation in Iran. Despite their supportive stance, Trump called their refusal to get involved a 'very foolish mistake' and highlighted the need for international assistance in policing the Strait of Hormuz.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump expressed disappointment as NATO allies declined involvement in the U.S.'s military efforts in Iran, a move he deemed a 'very foolish mistake.' Although Trump criticized their stance, he showed no intent to retaliate against these allies.
Despite NATO countries' general support for the ongoing U.S.-Israeli operation, entering its third week, they resisted active participation. Trump emphasized the United States must remember this collective hesitation, saying, 'We think it's pretty shocking.'
Trump urged for assistance in securing the Strait of Hormuz, vital for global oil transport, following Iran's defensive tactics using drones and missiles. Allies, however, remain reticent to deploy military resources to help open the strait, challenging Trump's call for action. Earlier Trump noted on Truth Social that the U.S.'s military success has diminished its reliance on NATO support.
