Temporary Ceasefire Announced by Pakistani Militant Group Amid Eid Celebrations

A key Pakistani militant group, the TTP, declared a ceasefire for Eid al-Fitr, coinciding with temporary truces by Pakistan and Afghanistan after intense clashes. Early Thursday, a key Pakistani militant group, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), announced a three-day ceasefire ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim holiday marking Ramadan's end.

Coincidentally, both Pakistan and Afghanistan declared temporary truces after recent escalations. No exchanges of fire were recorded, providing a rare respite since February's outbreak of hostilities.

The TTP intensified attacks inside Pakistan following the Afghan Taliban's 2021 ascension. The cessation, influenced by mediation from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Qatar, aims to allow peaceful Eid celebrations.
