In a significant statement, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared that Iran's 'surface fleet is no longer a factor' as their submarine capabilities have diminished. Once boasting a fleet of 11, Iran's midget submarines, designed for stealth operations in the Persian Gulf, are now reportedly no threat.
These small submarines were engineered for concealing themselves underwater while deploying mines and firing torpedoes. Their ability to evade sonar made them a strategic asset in the narrow areas of the Strait of Hormuz.
During a Pentagon briefing, Hegseth also talked about the steadfast resolve of families of US service members lost in the Iran war. He shared their emotional messages of encouragement to finish the mission, affirming that their sacrifices inspire unwavering commitment from US forces and the presidency.
