In a major breakthrough, city police seized counterfeit Indian currency totaling Rs 2.38 crore and arrested seven suspects, officials announced on Thursday.
Following a tip-off, the crime branch detained the accused, including a renowned Surat-based yoga teacher, targeting an SUV carrying 42,000 fake Rs 500 notes. Upon investigation, more currency and equipment were discovered during a Surat raid.
Authorities revealed that the gang employed advanced tools and online platforms to create realistic counterfeit notes. The suspects will be brought before a court, where police will request custody for further investigation.
