Arrest of Yoga Teacher and Associates in Major Fake Currency Scandal

Seven individuals, including a well-known Yoga teacher, were arrested in Ahmedabad for possession of fake Indian currency with a face value of Rs 2.38 crore. The group, linked to a Yoga foundation, faces charges of counterfeiting, possession of forged currency, and conspiracy. Police are investigating further.

Seven individuals, among them a Yoga instructor known as Pradip Guruji, were apprehended in Ahmedabad for allegedly possessing counterfeit Indian currency notes worth Rs 2.38 crore. The arrests were made following a tip-off that led to the seizure of Rs 500 denomination fake bills from various locations.

The group, linked to the Shri Satyam Yog Foundation established by Pradip Jotangiya, allegedly engaged in counterfeiting due to the foundation's financial troubles. According to police reports, the illegal operation began four months prior and involved sophisticated printing techniques and materials sourced from China.

Ahmedabad Crime Branch has taken charge of the case, as the seven face serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, related to forgery and conspiracy. The investigation continues as officials dig deeper into the operation allegedly spearheaded by Mukesh Thummar.
