In a pointed critique of the BJP and RSS, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused them of attempting to undermine the rights of India's tribal populations by referring to them as 'Vanvasis'.

Speaking at an Adivasi rights conference in Vadodara, Gandhi argued that this terminology shift denies tribals their historical claim to land, water, and forests.

He reiterated the need for a caste census, highlighting its importance in ensuring fair power distribution and wealth sharing among tribal communities. Gandhi also condemned the opening of India's farm sector to American products in the India-US trade deal.
