A harrowing crime has reached a turning point as the police arrested a 27-year-old man for the rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl in Jharkhand's Garhwa district.
The arrest marks the conclusion of a month-long investigation during which around 600 individuals were interrogated. The incident took place on February 21 when the victim, attending a village wedding, went outside to relieve herself and was attacked.
Investigative efforts were bolstered by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), and a crucial lead was found in the form of slippers left by the perpetrator near the crime scene. Examination of call records and intensive interviews further helped in piecing together the case.
