Former senior executive Kou Wei of a major Chinese state-owned power company has been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for serious crimes, as reported by state news agency Xinhua.

Kou Wei, who held the positions of general manager and deputy Communist Party chief at Datang Group, was found guilty of embezzlement and abuse of power, with substantial amounts involved.

In China, a death sentence with a reprieve often transitions to life imprisonment, contingent on the offender's behavior during the reprieve period.
