A tragic accident unfolded in Dakshina Kannada district, where a woman and her son were killed in a motorcycle collision with a stationary tipper truck. According to police reports, this incident occurred on Tuesday evening on Mahaveer College road within Moodbidri municipal limits.

The victims have been identified as 68-year-old Prema Shetty and her 30-year-old son, Srinivas Shetty, who were residents of Neeralkatte in Gantalkatte. Srinivas worked as a daily-wage laborer. Police state that the mother and son were traveling from Moodbidri towards Gantalkatte when their motorcycle allegedly rammed into the tipper truck parked near a petrol bunk.

Prema Shetty succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Srinivas was critically injured and later passed away at a hospital. The Shetty family is reeling from a similar tragedy just last year, when Prema's younger son died in a rickshaw accident. The Moodbidri police are investigating the incident to uncover further details.
