The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) has implemented a directive that compels hotels and restaurants to eliminate references to particular animal meats in their trade licences and signboards.

Citing concerns about public decency and sensitivities, the IMC stated that such naming practices were inappropriate and violated animal welfare norms.

The order, exercising authority under the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 2019, requires compliance within 10 days, with non-compliance facing potential legal consequences.
