The driver, identified as Sandeep Pawar, was taken into custody and brought before a local court, which extended his police detention until April 4. The horrifying incident occurred on April 30 and was caught on CCTV, escalating public outrage.
Local MLA Sneha Dubey Pandit called for stringent action against Pawar, engaging Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the call for justice. Assurances were given that the accused will face harsh penalties.
