A significant police operation has led to the seizure of more than 15 quintals of cannabis, commonly known as ganja, valued at roughly Rs 1.5 crore. The local police, in conjunction with the Special Task Force (STF), carried out the operation following a credible tip-off.

The authorities intercepted a truck on the Sultanpur-Lucknow highway near Ravania Purab village on Tuesday evening. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered 1,520 kg of ganja packed in 50 sacks. The contraband was reportedly being transported from Odisha to Lucknow.

To slip past law enforcement in the state capital, the accused had planned to transfer the cannabis into a smaller vehicle. The apprehended individuals, identified as Nasir from Muzaffarnagar and Arya from Lucknow, are now under investigation as part of a wider probe into the drug smuggling network.
